Best Wall System- Gladiator Garage Works
If you want to use every inch of your garage space, you need to consider a slat style system. Panels will allow you to change your space to meet all of your needs time and time again. After tons of research, I chose Gladiator Gearwall panels and they did not disappoint.

Installing the panels was pretty straight forward, but because I was covering a huge space I did call my dad for help. You will need the following tools:
- SAW– We used a circular saw, but my dad is an experienced builder. If I had done this on my own I would have used a table saw. (My dad’s saw of choice is Dewalt – check it out)
- JIGSAW– You need a jig saw to cut around outlets, piping or anything else that will need a special cut out on your walls. (My dad has THIS ONE and it’s on sale right now on Amazon.com) Side note- Get extra blades – they can break… right dad?
- LEVEL– If you don’t own a level – it’s time! This one is Amazon’s Choice.
- TAPE MEASURE – (Check out my favorite one-click here)
- DRILL- Ok… a drill is a staple tool for any grown up. Try to get a good one if at all possible. I love my drill and use it ALL OF THE TIME. (My Makita drill happens to be Amazon’s Choice)
- SCREWS- Ok… here’s where things get tricky. If you have drywall walls in your garage you an buy the Gladiator Garage Works screws to match your panels FIND THEM HERE. If you have concrete, plaster or thicker walls, you need to get some specialty screws. My wall required Rugged Structural Screws that of course didn’t match. But, my dad had me grab some refrigerator paint and I had a small circular sponge brush to paint the screw heads to blend with the panels.
- STUD FINDER- I’ll be honest. We didn’t use one… my dad knocks on the wall and just seems to know… But, if I were going at this alone – I would need one. I am adding this little gem to my Holiday Wish List! Check out this best seller stud/ AC finder on Amazon.
- SQUARE- Well, I also don’t currently own a square and my dad forgot his. Fortunately, he made one from some thick paper I had in my art collection. I don’t really recommend going into this project without a proper square. My dad has always uses a simple square like THIS ONE on sale on Amazon right now.
- PENCIL- It was actually had for me to find a plain lead pencil! We always use mechanical pencils which really don’t mark well on rough surfaces. My dad most often uses THESE PENCILS for construction work.

2. Track Storage – Gladiator Garage Works
What is Track Storage? This is a 4 foot long by 6 inch wide piece of track that you can add on hooks and hangers of different shapes and sizes. Check out the Gladiator Garage Works Track System Here. I opted for the track system on the sides of my garage for small overflow storage.
You need the same tools as you would for the Garage Gear Panels. (level, tape measure, drill, drill bit to pre-drill holes, stud finder, square, pencil, jigsaw, masonry drill bit- if needed)
I have used two of my Gear Track to hang items needed near my car – umbrellas, extra grocery bags, car cleaner items. The other two hold ladders, step stools, shovels and my long handled tools.
Hanging the GearTrack was a breeze. CLICK HERE For Official Instructions so you can decide if this piece works for you.
3. Hooks, Baskets and Bins
This is how your garage will really start to come together and be custom for you and your family. I started with the Gladiator Starter Accessory Kit:

Every garage needs some baskets to hold a wide variety of “stuff.” I bought one specifically to hold my husband’s hockey clothes. I can fold the clothes neatly inside and the air can blow through!

Do you have golf bags and accessories sitting in your garage? This golf caddy is amazing and will definitely take you to a whole new level of organization.
Check this out! You just might need it!
Note: I am still buying pieces for my garage to customize it more. So far, this system and accessories has been able to meet all of my storage needs. And, my garage is really starting to look amazing.
4. Extra Storage
After this whole set up, I did find a few extra things I wanted to add to my organization system that will be outside of Gladiator. These are just little things that will take me one step further to staying as organized as I can.
- Every garage needs an extension cord and lets face it, you can wrap them around your arm a million times and tie them and they still manage to look a mess. I can use these wraps for all of my ropes and cables and use the round hole to hang on one of my hooks! Neat and tidy here I come!

- If you live where winter means snow and ice you know you need a place to store salt. I kind of hate having bags of it cluttering up my garage and bags tend to rip and spill. This year, I am grabbing a few nice white storage containers from IKEA. They are $15.99 each and they are stackable.

- When it comes to ladders, I kind of just want them completely out of the way. We need them, but not very often and they are almost always in the way. Ceiling mounts seem to be the best answer to this problem.
Find This Double Ladder Mount On Amazon.
- My last favorite garage accessory is this tiny garage parking aide. We have one on each side of our garage placed perfectly for each car. It’s tiny, it’s barely noticeable and it works!
5. Note on Garageworks Customer Service
I had the privilege of working with Gladiator customer service twice during this process. The first time I needed to know when my materials would arrive because my dad was coming to help. The agent looked up each item and got me exact delivery dates and tracking information on each piece – and I ordered a lot.
I had leftover materials from my job and needed to return the unused parts to Gladiator. A sweet woman worked with me to make everything as easy as possible. The large item was scheduled to be picked up by Fed Ex and the smaller items I could return to Fed Ex. Unfortunately, Fed Ex wanted to charge me over $320 to return two small items that I carried into the store myself! I immediately called Gladiator and in less than 24 hours they called me back and refunded me the full amount and allowed me to keep the items. Thank you Gladiator for your amazing customer service!
6. A Special Thank You…
Dad, what would I do without you? This guy drove 8 hours on a Friday, worked all day Saturday on my project, hung our with my kids every free moment he had and drove back Sunday morning to help my brother with his house. He really is the best. Thanks Dad… for everything.
