I want to start my blog journey with honesty and openness and that means sharing with all of you that I really don’t know what the hell I’m doing. I am learning this whole blogging thing a little at a time. It’s been a painful behind the scenes process just to get to the point of publishing this first post, but, hey, I’m doing it! I want you to know this because I want you to know that I’m a real person, working through my own insecurities and learning curves to share my journey to simplicity. I’m a work in progress myself and I want to take you with me while I learn and teach you more about simplifying life.
Ok… so why did I decide to do this whole blog thing? I’m so glad you asked. I believe that most of us crave a certain level of simplicity, we appreciate it, we know it’s good for us but it’s often daunting and time consuming and requires just so many freaking decisions. And you might wonder… is it really even worth it? The answer is YES! I have been working toward simplifying everything in my life for years and guess what? It’s hard. There I said it. I know, the magazine articles and tv shows make it seem so easy, but believe me- the concepts are simple but the process can be very complex. So, I have taken this simplicity concept on as a life challenge and I want to bring you with me on my journey. My goal with this blog is to teach you what I have learned so far and take you with me as I face my own challenges that come with living with simplicity.
I will be here each week to share projects, personal stories and tips I’ve learned from some of the most organized and productive people in the world. On the flip side, I also want to be open with you about my fails because I’m human and sometimes things don’t work out the way I plan them. It’s ok to laugh at me, I live with teenagers… I can take it. If sharing my fails helps you avoid some mistakes on your journey, I’ll brave the humiliation. Let’s take a deep breath and take some steps toward simplicity together.
“Declutter your mind, your heart, your home. Let go of the heaviness that is weighing you down. Make your life simple, but significant.” ~Maria Defillo
