5 Tips To Organize A Teen Wardrobe
-
Purge, Purge Purge
Your teen might say they have no clothes or nothing to wear, but is that really true? The very first step is to gather all of their clothes into one big pile and find out what they want to keep and what they want to get rid of. I actually didn’t ask my son for help on this step. Piling the clothes in one area took me a little time and I wanted to be sure I got everything. Then, he stepped in and made a decision about each item of clothing. Look at his purge pile:

For the best tips on how to purge your space, you need to read “The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up” by Marie Kondo. Check it out:

2. Make A List
While my son sorted, he often had to part with clothes he loved but were now too small, had stains or were worn out. I started a list of items he needed, things that needed to go to the cleaners, pieces that needed to be replaced and pieces that were going to specific people. (His girlfriend wanted a certain hoodie, his sister claimed a few t-shirts and a friend took some spirit wear from his high school.)

3. Use Organizers
Organizers will save your sanity! Adding organizers to drawers will almost force your teen to put things away in the right way. Look at this teen boy drawer:

4. Buy Matching Hangers
Matching hangers in a closet are a game changer.

5. Donate Everything ASAP
Ok… you’re at the end and it’s time to bag things up and donate them. Try a local goodwill, Big Brothers and Big Sisters or a local church. Make sure you find a place to donate to responsibly get rid of your things.
